In the iranian culture men are treated as as a higher power. In Iran men are expected to do all the hard work, like work in factories, go into town and work with machinery. The women have to wear a veil. The veil is to be worn to hide their hair when outside of the house, and around men who are not apart of their family. The women in iran are expected to stay home and do things like house work, watch the children, and do things like cook and clean. Gender in Iran really does matter. The men in iran, are more looked up to apposed to women. In the book Persepolis the women there has to wear the veil because it was not a choice. Wearing the veil makes them feel like they are not in charge of their own life because it is not their own personal choice to wear it or not. Being a woman in Iran there is no gender equality.
